A Sabbath for the Hearth: Stillness in the Autumn Air
No class today. The fire is banked low, the pans hang silent along the pantry wall, and the work of the week is laid down.
Living close to the soil and hearth teaches a simple lesson: without intentional rest, productivity loses its foundation. The same hands that knead and stir and scrub need their seventh day, the same way bread needs its long ferment and soap needs its slow cure. Rest is not the absence of work. It is what makes the work worth doing.
So step away from the heat today. Take a calm morning with your family. Walk outside and breathe in the crisp autumn air, notice which trees have started to turn, and let the quiet rhythm of the woods restore your soul. Drink your coffee while it is still hot. Call the person who taught you your favorite recipe, and thank them.
Tomorrow we are back in the classroom with Class 120. Until then, rest well, friends.
